Summer Cleaning Tips and Tricks

Hey friends and neighbors,

Summer is here — and if you’re lucky enough to have a lake place, you know how fast it turns into a hangout hub once the sun starts shining. I’m Kevin from Better Clean, and I wanted to share some real-life tips that we use for our lake home clients to keep things looking great, without stressing you out. These are the same things I do for our family cabin too.

1. Give It a Good Once-Over First

Start the season with a deep clean. After a long winter, things get dusty and musty — especially windows, fans, and those sneaky corners. Get the heavy stuff out of the way now, and it’ll be smooth sailing the rest of the summer.

2. Power Wash Like a Pro

Your deck, patio, and siding probably took a beating over the winter. A quick power wash can make the whole place feel brand new. We also recommend wiping down outdoor furniture and giving those cushions a check (or a toss, if needed).

3. Fight the Pollen & Sand Battle

Between lake traffic and summer breezes, sand and pollen sneak into every corner. Throw down some good doormats, vacuum often, and use microfiber cloths to trap dust. Trust me, your nose and your guests will thank you.

4. Watch for Damp Spots

Lakeside homes mean extra moisture. Keep an eye out for musty smells or little patches of mildew. A small dehumidifier in basements or bunk rooms works wonders.

5. Be Guest-Ready

You never know when someone’s dropping by with a cooler and a smile. Keep extra towels, toilet paper, and snacks on hand. Hooks and baskets near the door make it easy for everyone to stay organized, even after a swim.

Need a Hand? That’s What We’re Here For.

Whether you need help catching up after a long winter or want someone to handle the weekly wipe-downs, we’ve got your back. Better Clean knows lake homes — we live here, too. Give us a call or shoot us a message and let’s keep your summer clean and easy.
